There's Gold In Them There (Charter) Schools !

I had a conversation with a friend the other day about the "non profit" status of professional sports leagues such as the NFL, NBA and MLB and their accumulation of tax free monies which then pay gigantic salaries to the head honchos . Eventually, the conversation became one about charter schools and their "non profit" status. I was quick to mention that I won't be surprised if the same might be true in the case of charter schools as it is in pro sports. Thus I went to the Internet and found two eye opening articles which validated my suspicions.

Christie Sees A Soft "Punching" Bag - Women

In the recent furor over “The Donald’s” comments about women on the GOP debate platform the comments of “The Governor” have been overlooked and ignored. The “Punch in the face” comment has been barely remarked upon by the media and I am sure that is to the dismay of our attention seeking Governor.
After reading about the hubbub regarding Trump’s insulting women I began to wonder if there might be a relationship between his comments and those of Christie. Then it occurred to me. Why are Christie’s vicious attacks always aimed at teachers and teacher’s unions and rarely against other public sector unions (police, firemen, etc.)?
Why does he feel that he can be as aggressive and insulting as he pleases when it comes to teachers?  I may have discovered the answer.
Could it be that he feels free to attack a predominately female organization and expects little retaliation? Could it be that he has little respect for the profession because it is largely composed of women?
Could it be that his reserve in criticizing and debasing the police and fire unions is because in it mostly comprised of males?
Bullies generally do pick on the ones they perceive as weakest and unwilling or incapable of effectively fighting back. Could this be the case with “The Governor”?

PS- If he wants to “punch someone in the face” he is welcome to stop over at any time (without his police escort) and he better make his first punch count !!

If he sends me an email I will eagerly reply with my address and time!

The Best and the Brightest ?????

"We want the 'Best and the Brightest' teachers in our classrooms!"
"Teachers Matter!"
"We are reaffirming our commitment to advancing teacher talent."
"I think teacher quality is really important."
The BS runs wide and deep.
I have some questions for those who continually spew this hollow rhetoric and phony accolades.
How bright can a person be who would willingly enter a profession which is constantly degraded and demeaned by politicians and the media throughout the land?
How bright can a person be who would willingly enter a profession which has seen its seniority rights eliminated?
How bright can a person be who would willingly enter a profession which has seen a hundred year old tenure law stripped away in the blink of an eye?
How bright can a person be who would willingly enter a profession which has seen the retirement age increased by ten years over night?
How bright can a person be who would willingly enter a profession which reads daily about the inevitable collapse of the pension fund to which he must contribute throughout his entire working life?
How bright can a person be who would willingly enter a profession which sees its bargaining rights threatened or eliminated?
How bright can a person be who would willingly enter a profession which sees a Governor break a promise and the law which he instituted and praised by refusing to properly fund the pension?
How bright can a person be who would willingly enter a profession which sees the C.O.L.A stripped from the pension of current retirees by a wave of the hand?
How bright can a person be who will willingly enter a profession which in the defined benefit pension will soon be replaced by a defined contribution plan (401K plan)?
Considering all the aforementioned, anyone entering teaching today can't possibly be that bright!
**************************************************************************************************
Christie "celebrates" teachers - What a hypocrite!
Defined Benefits - Going, going, gone !
New Jersey has already eliminated tenure -
They just use Orwellian Newspeak and call it "Reformed"

Seniority goes next -
Even if you've taught your heart out for 25 years if someone's niece needs a job or you're just too expensive -
As Ray Charles used to say - 'Hit the road Jack!"

Just because the voters want fairness that doesn't mean it's going to happen!

A Pension for Shamelessness

Public workers - set up to be screwed again!
Our government has plenty of money for Iraq and Afghanistan (until 2024) but not for our own cities and states.
Money for $300M jets that not even the military wants, money for troops in Germany, Japan, South Korea, etc.(for over fifty years), all of it pouring out of Washington in a deluge.
Billions of dollars for banks and insurance companies flood from the Capitol while cities and states are left poor and humbled. (And as an aside government officials continually talk of cutting "entitlements" to save money!)

To make matters even more disgusting, judges who qualify for super generous pensions get to decide if others may have their meager pensions eliminated !
PS
If bankruptcy is invoked, I can't wait see the salaries and fees of those who preside over it and which "in bed" law firms and cronies are assigned to it.
