Home Grown NSA ?

This flyer was left at the door of a  retired teacher friend here in Nutley.
Now, of course, I assumed that it may be misleading and one sided so I looked up info about last night's meeting at Belleville BOE and substantiated some of it
The underlined statements were verified at :

http://newjersey.news12.com/news/parents-officials-argue-necessity-of-2-million-school-security-system-in-belleville-1.6890890

"The system includes surveillance cameras and audio in every classroom and hallway.  Even the teacher’s lounges has video streaming directly to Belleville police."

The asterisk marked part was not mentioned in the aforementioned article.
If all this is true, it appears, that as usual, even  good things can be easily contorted by less than ethical people  into Orwellian  scenarios. All that is needed is "we are protecting you (your children)" to justify any and all liberty infringing acts.
Why are cameras and audio devices needed in the teacher's lounge to provide security?
Will the teachers be alerted when the cameras are operating or will they always be on?
Will everything be taped?
Can information gleaned via video be used to discipline and punish teachers for conversations displeasing or critical of the administration?
Is the next step to be cameras in the bathrooms, locker rooms and showers ?
I sincerely hope that this is all an overblown situation.  Camerasw should be placed where they can actually deter violence, that is in the hallways and entrances of the buildings and not in locations merely to spy on everyone.
P.S.
Will cameras and audio equipment be installed in the Principal's Office, the Superintendent's Office and the BOE Offices? And if so will the recordings be may public upon request ?

Between The Devils and The Deep Blue Sea

Here is an article from March which I copied and saved. Although it pertains to the possible candidacy of Cory Booker (which we now know will not be the case) it makes clear points about the veracity of our present Governor.
Now, it seems certain that in the next election, we will  be presented with a choice between an unknown, sacrificial lamb from the Democrats or a widely known, bold faced liar from the Republicans.
We are seeing a plethora of Christie advertisements exuding praise for his myriad of accomplishments and feats of grandeur.
Sadly, I see nothing from the NJEA, the CWA or AFT pointing to the deceit and hollow promises offered in his last campaign. Are comments from these groups yet to come or will they remain meekly cowering on the sidelines awaiting the blood bath to come, without uttering so much as a single word of rebuke?

If they remain mute another lie will be revealed. This time it will be the lie that these organizations are willing to stand up and fight for the membership and not just sit back and collect the huge salaries at the top!

PS
My wife insists that I change the name of my blog. She calls it "unbecoming". I disagree of course but she has finally worn me out.
Therefore, I would like to get your suggestions for a more acceptable name change. I would like to change it to a title having the same acronym TDS.
Will you sent me your suggestion?

PSS
Don't make it too sappy. Thanks.

Confronting The "Educrats" NJEA Style ?

I sure hope there's a better  NJEA  Plan C because Plan A (a lot of whining with little action) didn't work too well and if this is Plan B (essentially cuddling up into a fetal position), it won't work either!

There's Gold In Them There Schools!

Public education is being bought and paid for, all under the guise of helping children. If my suspicions are correct, the welfare of children is being used to camouflage the takeover of the public schools by private interests. Access to the vast sums of money spent each year on educating our children is the golden goose they seek.
This article was published in Salon on November 17th. It makes clear much of the tactics and ploys that will be and are being used to ultimately transfer our schools into cooperate hands.
It is lengthy but I have underlined what I think are some of the key points.
